In English - how it works

hittaut starts in Västervik April 10th and run to the 31st of October

We have placed 110 checkpoints all around Västervik. The idea is to find the checkpoints with the help of the map and/or GPS. You can use your mobile and and the webmap or the physical map that you get for free. (locations below)

We want more people to accept the challenge to move about and discover our breathtaking nature and archipelago.

Any questions? Please contact us at

On the map there will be in total 105 numbered checkpoints with color-codes explaining the difficulty.

  • Green = very easy (sometimes accessible with bike, pram or wheelchair)

  • Blue = easy

  • Red = medium

  • Black = difficult

60 of the checkpoints will only be available later on in the project, called "extrasläpp = extra release", see below for dates and which areas of checkpoints.

Checkpoints releases

Here you can find the dates when we release new checkpoints.

  • 8 June release of 15 new checkpoints at the Västervik Outdoor Festival
  • 1 July release of 15 new checkpoints at Motionsorientering at Gränsö.
  • 17 August release of 15 new checkpoints at Intersports hittautdag.
  • 18 september release of 15 new checkpoints at VO-Joggen, Karstorp.

Here you find the map:

  • Västerviks OK, Checkpoint
  •  ICA Maxi, Checkpoint
  •  Turistbyrån Rådhuset, Stora Torget 4
  •  Västerviks Kommun, Fabriksgatan 21

When you have found your first checkpoint, or even before you start, you can register on these web pages. Every checkpoint you register (with the letter-code) on this site, becomes a lottery ticket and you can win prizes. It's valuable for the project that you register, since both us and our sponsors want to know how many checkpoint finders activated.

The hittaut "pole"

At every checkpoint there is a one meter high "hittaut"-pole.

On the pole there are hittaut-decals, the checkpoint-number and the code. Note the code (one or two letters) and register it on the homepage.
